The Rwandan Canadian Healing Centre (RCHC), supported by the African Canadian Collective
(ACC), is launching a two-year transitional housing pilot in the Greater Toronto Area to support
100 refugees in securing stable housing and gainful employment. Using a proven model from
The Refugee Centre in Montreal, this initiative provides affordable shared housing, job training,
and wraparound support to help refugees transition from homelessness to independence. Staff
will play a critical role in creating a safe, supportive environment where participants can heal,
grow, and rebuild their lives in Canada.
About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Caseworker/ Intake Manager to support
individuals in our transitional housing program. The Caseworker will play a key role in client
intake, case management, service coordination and referrals to ensure that individuals receive
the necessary support to transition successfully into stable housing and employment. The
Caseworker will serve as a connection to regular Canadian society for guests to settle
comfortably and promptly.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct client intake and assessments to determine eligibility and individual needs.
Provide case management support, including developing personalized service plans for
economic, legal, social and holistic well-being clients needs
Connect clients to appropriate resources, including employment programs, healthcare,
and community services.
Coordinate with the Operations Manager/ Housing Developer on housing logistics, lease
agreements, and tenant concerns.
Work closely with the Employment Director to ensure housed individuals receive
tailored employment support.
Connect clients with tools and resources for financial literacy, credit building, tracking
client eligibility for financial aid, subsidies, and support services for overall
empowerment
Ensure compliance with program policies, funding requirements, and client service
standards.
Maintain accurate records of client interactions, case progress, and program outcomes.
Collaborate with community partners, NGOs, and government agencies to enhance
client support services.
Provide advocacy and crisis intervention support as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
3-5 years of experience in case management, social work, housing support, or refugee
services.
Strong understanding of support services, trauma-informed care, and settlement
resources for refugees and vulnerable populations.
Experience working with marginalized communities, including newcomers and
individuals facing housing insecurity.
Knowledge of employment services, workforce development programs, and integration
challenges.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies and nonprofit
partners.
Proficiency in case documentation, data tracking, and reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft office
Social work or related background required
